It’s more important than ever that our students leave South Hampstead with not just outstanding academic ability but also future-ready skills in areas such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication and technology.

We have exciting plans to evolve and expand our curriculum to amplify our delivery of those skills.

One of these areas is oracy, which is vital in developing students’ clarity and confidence as well as cultivating active listening and questioning skills. Our continued commitment to developing the powers of oral expression will include our Year 7 oracy and critical-thinking course and our first school-directed course for GCSE students, Scholarship Through Speech.

This begins in the Junior School with the development of strong digital literacy skills and the safe, purposeful use of technology to spark curiosity and creativity. We also introduce Philosophy in those early years, establishing thinking skills as the backbone of our academic approach. This focus on intellectual challenge is celebrated throughout the entire school, reflecting an alignment between sophisticated academic content and deep exploration of the hallmarks of deep thinking.
